Welcome to the Rensselaer Regional Soccer Club (RRSC). In 1990-1991, the Saint Joseph’s College soccer coach started a soccer camp for the youth in Rensselaer. This camp grew into what became known as the Saint Joseph’s College Youth Soccer League (SJCYSL). The league continued to grow under the leadership of a group of volunteers with Saint Joseph’s College supporting and allowing their property to be used for the league.
As the league continued to grow, Saint Joseph’s College became concerned about the safety of our young soccer players due to the traffic and parking in the areas at the fields. Saint Joseph's College decided from a liability standpoint, they were unable to host the league on their property any longer. Thankfully, the Rensselaer Park Board stepped up to the plate and offered ground at the old Monnett site, allowing soccer to continue.
Through discussions with Saint Joseph’s College, it was decided that the soccer board form our own non-profit and be self-governing. All parties involved agreed this solution was the most beneficial and would allow youth soccer to continue growing in Rensselaer. Thus, the Rensselaer Regional Soccer Club was formed in November 2016.
We would like to thank Saint Joseph’s College for making soccer what it is today in Rensselaer, as well as all of the past soccer boards and volunteers. We also want to thank the Rensselaer Park Board for allowing us to utilize the park facilities. The working relationship being formed between RRSC and the city of Rensselaer will prove to be very beneficial for the youth of Rensselaer and surrounding areas.
